The Battle Stone may still be standing
I know how upset some of you were by my previous post. My internet research - ie Google and the HES site - suggested Aberlemno 3 was the Battle Stone. But a correspondent says that it is ll - which may not be under the protection of HES Scotland and thus not described on the website. I will update the piece tomorrow. Sorry about the mistake xjk
Your more general point - how ill thought-through interventions to protect age-old monuments can end up doing more harm than good - still stands as well!
