Great read Jackie!

Even though the Ferret was honest enough to say the leak was not necessarily catastrophic, there wasn't supposed to be any leakage at any time ever. Scary.

Great stuff as ever Jackie!

Is there any chance that the Herald journo really thought it was their scoop and didn't realize the Ferret had prompted the release of the info?

The Telegraph did the same to me when I was a journo, and re-ran a story I scooped with no credit to my paper. It was only a Computing magazine story ('German Hackers Blow Hole in Microsoft Security') but it was big enough news for a national, and it was annoying. The Telegraph bastard even ripped off my intro. It was thirty years ago, and yes I know it sounds like I need therapy....

Yes, that hurts. I was on a training course with Dorothy Grace Elder and she said years ago if your "Exclusive' didn't get ripped off, folk would think it was because it wasn't much of a story. So it has always probably happened - but in these days of the fight for clicks and funding it really matters.
