I'm a Scottish pensioner looking at the total blindness to anything non-English. The new care scheme is being sold as 'national' when it only applies to England. It hasn't occurred to them that this blindness is behind the rise of the independence movements in the other three home nations. On the plus side it can only fuel the independence movement in the Celtic alliance.

We have free personal care, but other costs of residential care are still means-tested (partly because years of austerity all round have left Councils starved of funds).

I had assumed there would be Barnett consequentials, at first - but this means it's even worse - and we have a high proportion whose State pension is the only one; some would be entitled to Pension Credit to top up, but not all.

Burnham seems to hold a shockingly blinkered view of the "United Kingdom" ... John Swinney is absolutely correct to say we shoulc be able to put Burnham's airy fairy notions to the (referendum) vote!
