And, if the British state really wanted to subvert the independence movement, they might surely have best served their cause by keeping her in post.

And, the implication in the article that there is some judicial plot against her - the FM who brought the Lord Advocate into government against all good democratic precedent…

Yes, let’s just put an end a criminal investigation because it will be inconvenient. And, other reasons. Unbelievable.

That’s not what is being said. The parties accounts are public. They show where money was spent & where it came from. Either it was misappropriated or it wasn’t. It shouldn’t be taking this long to decide if the spending was illegal or not.

They’ve taken 3 years to investigate the financial equivalent of a garage

But it’s not a bike shop, nor a hotel or golf club. It’s the current party of government. And as such, they absolutely need to be held to account. Just as McLetchie was over his taxi expenses, and McLeish over his sublet. To argue otherwise is to be an apologist for corruption, and the other misdeeds of the Murrell clique.

He resigned after not having won the 2014 referendum. Probably knackered. There was little sign before she took over that she would turn out as she has, but she has. I love how you make that Salmonds fault. The delusion had you bad 😁.

I’m far from deluded 😂 I’m not ‘blaming’ anyone

Probably knackered my eye! His ego was dented! He gave not a thought to what came next.

He handed the baton to NS and we trusted he left us in good hands.

So either she was capable & he trusted her to do the best for party & country or he knew she wasn’t and his pride was more important than independence.

I’m not ashamed to admit I cried when he announced he was stepping down. Never again! I’d rather stick pins in my eyes that vote for him or his party full of hasbeens.

This investigation is nothing but a witch hunt.

Quite frankly I’m beyond the point of caring the outcome, I just wish they’d get on with it.

If you believe there isn’t ulterior motives at play dragging it out, then I’m afraid you are the deluded one.

It has taken too long, something the polis are often guilty of as I know from family experience. But that’s not your real concern, is it? You are an SNP loyalist, still in thrall to the image and aura of St. Nicola. Somehow the fact that she led what had latterly become a disastrous government, has continued to exert control over the party of which she is still, somehow, an unsuspended member, and is currently making the most unbelievably unselfaware statements deploring the toxic nature of political discourse, the influence of inexperienced political leadership, etc - all things for which she is largely responsible! - makes not a dent in your faith. As for her passion for independence, don’t make me laugh. She was handed the most incredible legacy and did precisely nothing with it. The reason the party membership has plummeted- something of course both she and hubby tried to obscure - is because apart from the adoption of unpopular policies and the focus on producing bad laws, people have seen the SNP for what it has become: a cartel party, primarily interested only in the retention of power. And that, again, is her doing.

If she was handed such an easy win, why did her predecessor leave? If she was so easily corruptible, why did her predecessor leave? If her passion was for power & not independence, again, why did her predecessor leave? If he was unaware of her inability to take the party & the cause further, what does that say about him? He has known her, her entire independence journey, since her teenage years!

It’s a charade. They have had plenty of time to investigate and report. It’s now got tangled up with the election. Police Scotland have not achieved the standard that the people of Scotland have a right to expect. They don’t have a right to drag this out for so long.
